3. Required Information for a Valid Takedown Notice
To be legally effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)(A), your DMCA notice must include ALL of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner (typing your full legal name is accepted as an electronic signature)
- Identification of the copyrighted work(s) you claim has been infringed — include the title, original URL, registration number (if applicable), or other identifying details
- Identification of the specific material on The Movie Reporter that you claim is infringing — provide the exact URL(s) where the allegedly infringing content appears; general descriptions are not sufficient
- Your full legal name and complete contact information: mailing address, telephone number, and email address
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the identified material is not authorized by the copyright owner, the copyright owner’s agent, or by law
- A statement made under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Important: Submitting a false or materially misleading DMCA notice may expose you to legal liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), which provides for damages against parties who knowingly misrepresent that material is infringing.
4. Action Taken Upon Receipt of a Valid Notice
Upon receiving a complete and valid DMCA takedown notice, The Movie Reporter will:
- Acknowledge receipt of your complaint in a timely manner
- Review the notice to assess its completeness and evaluate the nature of the alleged infringement
- Remove or disable access to the material identified in the notice if we determine, or are unable to dispute, that a valid infringement claim exists
- Notify the person responsible for the content (if applicable) that the material has been removed and that they may file a counter-notice if they believe the removal was made in error
We will make every reasonable effort to act expeditiously following receipt of a valid and complete notice. Please note that we may exercise independent editorial judgment in evaluating claims and determining whether removal is appropriate.
5. Counter-Notification Procedure
If you are a content contributor or user who believes that material you submitted was removed from The Movie Reporter as a result of a mistake or misidentification — and you have a genuine good-faith basis for that belief — you may submit a counter-notification.
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3), a valid counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material that was removed and the URL or location where it appeared before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification
- Your full name, mailing address, and email address

6. Repeat Infringers
In accordance with our obligations under the DMCA and our internal content policies, The Movie Reporter will, in appropriate circumstances, take action against users or contributors who are found to repeatedly engage in or facilitate copyright infringement. This may include removal of content and restrictions on future contributions.
7. Our Content and Protecting Our Own Copyrights
All original content published on The Movie Reporter — including articles, reviews, headlines, editorial analyses, and curated playlists — is protected by copyright law. Unauthorized reproduction, scraping, redistribution, or commercial use of our content without express written permission is prohibited.

8. Limitation of Liability
